Houston area disaster

Having been through Sandy 2 years ago...I know how bad things will be for the Houston, TX area for a long time. There are STILL people in NJ who have unresolved insurance claims and never rebuilt. That being said, without judgement or editorials, if you choose to donate to the Red Cross, just FYI Amazon is doing matching funds if you donate online with your Amazon account (if you have one).

The company my wife works for

The company my wife works for has a Houston office and it's been closed since Saturday due to all the stome damage in the area and the safety factor of going out on the roads. I'm expecting her company to do a matching offer for all employees that donate to the Houston relief effort to be posted in the next day or so. The company is always very good with this type of thing and with some of their own employees working down there, it will be coming up very soon.

I've been following the

I've been following the situation in Huston for the past several days.  I can't believe some of the photos/videos that are being posted on-line showing the water accumulation and storm damage.  My heart goes out to all those affected by this catastrophy!

Mother Nature must HATE us.

Houston is under wate with Harvey. The North Western section of the country is Burning up with Wild Fires. Here in the Denver area we have smoke in the air from all the fires to the west and north of us. The high pressure area between Denver and California is forcing all the smoke in a clockwise pattern around the high pressure block of air and it's comeing down from the north and landing on Colorado and our neighboring states this week.  Too bad all that rain the hit Texas didn't fall on the North West part of the country instead and maybe we wouldn't be having all these wild fires burning up the place. Mother Nature, you are NOT nice some times.

It doesn't make much sense

It doesn't make much sense how you can have two areas that are relatively close together experiencing such opposite extremes in weather.  If only some of that rain had fallen in the mountains...  This is the price we pay for the affects of global warming they say.

DON
Some parts of Texas got up to

Some parts of Texas got up to 50 plus inches of rain out of Harvey. IF each of the ten states that are burning up with wild fires got just 5 inches of that rain, Houston wouldn't be flooded and those 10 states wouldn't be on fire now. All that water could be doing a world of good instead of all the harm it's doing in Texas. And now we have Irma hitting Florida and the islands off the coast. More damage instead of good.
