Monsoon season here in NC

I can't remember the sun...it's been a long time :)   Over the last week, including the trip to the beach, it's been very windy and moist.  We've gone from about 6 inches UNDER normal rain accumulation this year to about even...more coming tomorrow and Sunday.  But looks like the fronts are moving out and the hurricane didn't come ashore so maybe, just maybe, late next week the courses will dry out and I'll get to play.

Anyone else having rainy season?  And it's like 55 today!!! WTF???

We're still very dry up here

We're still very dry up here although it rained Monday and Tuesday.  Temperatures having been heading down as well since Wednesday.  The high today was maybe 50 with persistent winds and over night lows getting down to 40 or below; frost is just around the corner.  Seems to be pretty typical early autumn weather for these parts.

cool, rain

we were bracing for hurricane in NJ but it turned east and headed out to sea, so we only had rain and some wind. Did have to turn the heat on for the first time Friday, it was in the high 40's (way below normal). Apparently we had some kind of front that sucked the cold air down before the hurricane's effects started. There was some flooding along the shore, but nothing catastrophic. Gray and misty rain today, should be clearing out on Sunday (but windy). Hubby has a golf outing on Tuesday so at least he'll get to play with 2 days for it to dry out.

It's not how...it's how many

S.C. is under water

I saw on today's morning news that S.C. is really having a hard time with all the rain they got over the weekend. Accordin to the news reports some towns got as much and 27 inches of raing in 3 days. Now the storm is hitting N.C. more than S.C. but it's still extremely bad for both states.

Here in the Denver area, we just finished up with Sept, wihich was the Hotest and Driest Sept on record, Add it an extremely Dry August and it's been really dry around here for the last 2 months, If we got 1/4" of rain all of Sept I'd be surprised.

Forecast for last Friday was rain in the afternoon and into Saturday with rain most of Saturday and some on Sunday as well. As it turns out, we got ZERO rain for the 3 days, so not relief from the dry weather here. I wish there was a way we could send some ot the rain you got on the east coast back here in the west. It would be good for both sides of the country if we oould do that.

Yes, SC got hammered.  Heard

Yes, SC got hammered.  Heard one area got over a foot of rain in just a couple days.  90 miles of I95 were closed due to being impassable.  Nation Weather service said Charleston has like 11.5 inches in one day!  A record for them.  So the place is saturated, especially given the rains they had leading up to this storm.  So it's been terrible.  Hopefully they can start clean up and rebuild.  So much devistation.

You just can stop Mother Nature.

Las Vegas Is flooded too

This may sound weird after all the news about S.C. and all the rain they got over the weekend up to 26.88 inches of rain in 3 days

But Las Vegas got a big fat. .55" of rain, just over half an inch, and they are haviing problems with flooding. Seems that the ground is so dry, it can't absorb even that little bit of rain, so they have floods in Vegas. Hard to believe a half inch of rain can cause a flood, but it has.

I'll have to call my sister to see how she's doing with the rain. She lives in New Bern N.C. and they got a lot of rain just after S.C. did. I hope she's above water at least.
