I saw a three part video series with Jason Day walking up to guys at the tee box for a par 3 hole. He talked to each player and asked them what club they were planning to hit on the hole. Then he showed them the new M2 irons and gave eack of them 2 less club then they were going to hit. In each case they hit the shorter club the right distance for the hole. They were all quite amazed at the distance they got with 2 less clubs. So I decided to look up the specs for the M2 irons to see how they compared to my current irons. Turns out the new M2 6 iron has only 25* of loft, compared to 32* for my 6 iron. My 4 iron has 26* of loft, so it's not at all surprising that these guys were hitting a 8 iron when they normally would have hit a 6 iron for that hole. When I did a Demo of the then new Burner 2.0 irons I got the same thing. The Burner 6 iron has 27* of loft and I hit it a good 20 yards longer than I hit my 32* 6 iron on the monitor. I hate to think where this stupid trend is going the get to with less and less loft for irons. SEVEN degrees less loft then my irons is a joke if you ask me.
