Taylormade new TP5 and TP5x golf balls

Got 2 sample golf balls of each of TM's new (I think) TP5 and Tp5x golf balls:

5 LAYERS. ZERO COMPROMISES.

TP5 feature a Tri-Fast Core and Dual-Spin Cover that combine for a 5-layer golf ball construction that is specifically engineered to perform with every club in your bag.

TRI-FAST CORE

The unique 3-layer core system in TP5 and TP5x features progressive compression, enabling maximum energy transfer and generating massive speed on full shots.

DUAL-SPIN COVER

The contrast of an ultra-soft cast urethane cover and a semi-rigid inner-cover creates maximum interaction between the cover and club grooves, resulting in exceptional spin performance with full wedge shots and pinpoint control from around the green.

Hit the TP5x this weekend, good ball, I didn't get the chance to play it shot for shot against the ProV1x or anything.  Balls did stop on the green but our greens were a little soft anyway.

Unlesss I'm mistaken, the TP5

Unlesss I'm mistaken, the TP5 balls are just a newer version of the old TM Penta ball from 5 or so years ago. Excellent balls in the Tour quailty field of golf balls. I think that all of the Tour type balls are good for the low handicap golfer, as long as they do not fight a hook or slice. And to be honest, there are not too many low handicap golfer that fight a hook or slice, that's more the thing for mid to high handicap golfers.

I like their ads Don...

I like their ads Don..."Exactly like Nothing else..".

From what I've read people (pro's and low handicaps) are saying the TP5 is longer that ProV by about 10-15 yards.  Not that I care really, I just need consistent distances.  The thing I liked was ready Rory saying the TP5x was more consistent into the wind.   For the first time this year we've not had much wind..so it'll be awhile before I can check that but I'll try to remember too.

Longer than the ProV1 and

Longer than the ProV1 and more consistant into the wind, would be a good combination for any golf ball. so I'll be waiting to read what you find out when you get the chance to test them on a windy day.

No wind today...but played

No wind today...but played the TP5...I can't say I saw 10 yards more distance..not on every shot.  I did like the feel.  I'd hit several good drives today..280-310 yards I'd say.  It's been dry a few days and hot so there's always that to impact the results.   But last hole I hit what I thought was a good 9I...usually carries 142yards...GPS said this was uphill about 145..I came up probably at that 140yard mark, short of the flag.  Had several other good iron shots which didn't go any further than normal shots.  So at least with irons, it's about the same as the Titleist , based on this impression.   With the driver, maybe great shots are a little longer, but it's not consistently 10-15 yards longer..not from what I saw today

Spun well.  Good iron shots backed up 2-4 yards on most greens BUT the greens were softer due to the heat and the greenskeeper watering them.
Feel, very good.
