Why You Don't Want To Hit Your Driver Like Dustin Johnson

This article on Golf Digest's site (http://www.golfdigest.com/story/why-you-dont-want-to-hit-your-driver-lik...) suggests that even though DJ hits his driver 45 yards further than Toms averages, you would want to mimic Tom's driver swing because it's more efficient in terms of the driving efficency ratings.   That may be true, but DJ has a lot more short irons into greens so I think I'll take the 45 yards and deal with the inefficencies AFTER I cash the winners check :)

Interesting data Scott

I just looked at teh data shown in that article and it was interesting to see how much different these two golfers hit the ball with their driver. Most golfer would be happy to get 100 MPH with their driver like Toms. And not many golfer can even HOPE to get the kind of speen DJ can generate. Bottom line is that each golfer would be smart to work with what he or she has in terms of MPH with the driver  and work to get the most distance they can by finding the right launch angle and spin rate for them.

Putting is easy if you have the Right Putter.
