Solid feel and construction, expect high quality.

Pros:

The Nike VR_S Covert hybrid garners a Gold rating on Golf Digest's Hot List. See http://hotlist.golfdigest.com/l/1605/Nike-VR_S-Covert for more details

A game-imrpovement club, the Nike VR_S Covert Hybrid might be more difficult for skilled players to hit a controlled draw/fade.

Both models have a more flexible face than last year's VR_S. A sole cavity saves weight that is used in the heel and toe for stability. The Covert Tour has less offset, and its loft settings are independent of three face-angle settings.

The High Speed Cavity back design enables the Nike VR_S Covert hybrid to hit longer and straighter shots while the wide profile provides more forgiveness. Enhanced 2013 NexCOR Face Technology gives the deep face head a 45% larger hot zone for more distance and workability. The VR_S Covert also features a Mitsubishi Rayon KURO KAGE Black 70 shaft.

Nike has produced two hybrids with distinct trajectories (higher on the Covert, mid-launch on the Covert Tour), and the sole cavity allows the shape to stay conventional.

Significant perimeter weighting corrects a variety of misses and virtually eliminates sidespin, which keeps the ball tracking on a straight line; the Covert provides more help directionally than it does with distance.

Cons:

The hosel and swoosh seem big next to the small crown. The Nike VR_S Covert hybrid is very good at producing high, straight shots but it's not quite as impressive in terms of shaping shots; some testers find they lose too much distance on misses.

Summary:

Overall a nice club, especially for the higher handicap players. The Nike VR_S Covert hybrid has significant perimeter weighting which helps corrects a variety of misses and virtually eliminates sidespin, which keeps the ball tracking on a straight line; the Covert provides more help directionally than it does with distance.
