Wow, lots of wild scores today. Phil tripled 7, someone made a quad on the Par 5 15th.
Can Adam Scott repeat, just 3 people have done that before.
Man that course is beautiful. But #11, 505 yard Par 4...#unreal

Dufner made 12 pars, but the 13th ruined his round. He hit his second shot over the green, then chipped across the putting surface and into the creek that fronts the green.
He was able to play the shot, but hit it poorly, and the ball came back into the hazard.
From there, he took a drop and hit another poor chip for his sixth, knocked his seventh on the green and then two-putted for the quadruple-bogey 9.
"I just missed (my spot) to the left by a couple of yards," Dufner said of his second shot. "I hit a pretty good chip into the water. I elected to play it out, had a decent lie.
"The margins are very small. Miss a shot and you're going to make a bogey or a double ... or in some cases a 9."

I think it is going to be very difficult to make up ground the way that Augusta is set up. Front running is going to have tremendous value. A lot of top names are over par. My feeling is that if you weren't even par after the first round, you are pretty much out of it. That reduces the field of legitimate contenders to 27.
course is no pushover, as Jordan Speith said last night, his caddy is helping him focus on not making worse than bogey on any hole. Because unless a player hits a lucky shot on a par 3 for tap in birdie, not easy to make up strokes.
It's not how...it's how many
Be interesting to see how many more Green Jacket's Bubba gets. If he's hitting the driver like he was, that course sets up for him. Did you see where he bombed some of those drives? 180 in after his tee shot on a Par 5? And even then he's hitting what, 9I into the green, maybe 8? jeez.
Not sure he'll do that in the other majors depending on the venues but he can win without putting lights out - at Augusta!

No doubt about it, Scott! With Bubba's length and ability to shape shots, he was playing a completely different game to everyone else at Augusta. That was the greatest display of driving the golf ball that I have ever seen!
