Masters win for Patrick Reed

Watched a lot of Master's coverage this weekend.  I was really impressed yesterday with how Reed just kept making birdies and eagles, but then would bogey the Par 3s.   Then today, he didn't play as consistent but he made some huge putts when it counted.  Spieth really impressed too.  He came from 9 back to start the day to have a chance, and then Fowler got himself into the mix.  Everyone near the top but Rory and Stenson made a run.   Rory was just off on all aspects today.     But a fun event to watch.

I read tiger's next event is the end of June at the National.

DON
Reed Just Held On

I was wondering if Reed would play his fourth round in the 60's on Sunday, and it turns out he did NOT. I think he ended up at 71 for the round, which was JUST good enough to hold off Fowler and Spieth for the win. And IF Rory had played well at all he would have won by a few strokes at least. I think Reed should buy Rory dinner next time they meet to thank him for not playing well on Sunday. Reed got very lucky this weekend.

Yes.  I heard Don that no one

Yes.  I heard Don that no one has ever shot all 4 rounds in the 60s.  That surprised me.

I don't think he was lucky.

I don't think he was lucky.  Certainly no more lucky than any other winner has ever been.  He built up a lead and defended it.  The others had either dug too deep a hole to get out of in the early going or they wilted under the pressure of the final round.  Reed needs no apologists.  He earned his green jacket.

I'm kind of sick and tired of all the pot shots that have been lobbed in from the sidelines.  There are two sides to every story and we have not heard Reed's side yet.

DON
When I stated that he was

When I stated that he was lucky, I  was talking aoubt the fact that he played an average round on Sunday, and Rory played his worst round of the week. IF Rory had played the way he did the first 3 rounds Reed would NOT have won. That's why I said he got lucky.

I don't suspect we'll hear

I don't suspect we'll hear Reed's side of the story which is fine.  He seems to me to be a pretty private person.  And his personal business is that.  Personal.   I don't really care about all that stuff.   What I care about is watching what he can do on inside the ropes.  And up till a couple weekends ago, he hadn't put it all together.  He didn't have a great Sunday but he did enough Thur-Sat to make it work.  Rory, Spieth, Fowler...didn't quite have enough.   Rory is the one who surprised me the most.  After his collapse a few years back at the Masters, I figured he would be ready on Sunday.   Not at all!!
