Attended my club's open house today getting a chance to catch up with a few regulars and the rest of the staff. Course clean-up and raking is complete with the greens having been rolled and cut once already to remove any winter "fur". The super said that turf conditions are very similar to 2012, just colder temperature wise. Depending upon weather in the coming week, opening for play will tentatively be next weekend! If you told me this is how our spring would play out on February 26th, the day we left for Florida, I wouldn't have believed you!
I really WISH I was able to swing a golf club right now, as it's n the mid 60's and SUNNY here the next few days and then again st of next week. Going to get up to 70 next week and I can NOT even get out and swing a club. I have another 3 weeks before I'm allowed to swing a club and raise my right elbow above my shoulder. Don't want topll the wire from my monitor to my heart OUT and have to start over. so it's NO swinging of club for now But wth the weather being so NICE, it's not going to be easy to stay indoors
Hope your receovery is going well Don. I wish we had the weather for me to swing a club. Been in the low 30s as a high this week, and Saturday's low will be 11 degrees. Yikes! I don't remember the last time I've not played golf in January and Feb. Right now, my last round was early-mid Dec, when I went to Vegas. Since then I've had 1 or 2 range sessions. And otherwise I swing a club in the house. This time last year I was hitting balls in the 3rd bay of my garage in that net I built...but my daughter has now adopted that bay for her car since she's started driving. But I tweaked my back Sunday so best I don't go swinging the club anyway.
Glad we're halfway through Feb..Spring is coming!!!!
we are going to try to get to the range on Sunday (tied up on Sat.) as the forecast calls for low 50's temps and the ground should have finally dried out enough for the range ball picker to be able to get out...
Well more rain here and severe storms today. So once again the ground is saturated with water...looks like a nice day Sunday so maybe I can hit the range.
had those big storms rumble through here, too. Hoping for the ground to dry out as it will be mid-50's on Sunday, we have a tee time booked and thinking of playing 9 holes...off season until March 1 so it's only $20 for a round.
The forecast here is for a HIGH of 70 here in the Denver area. Can't complain about 70 and sunny at this time of year. NOT that it's going to do me any good as I still have 2 more weeks of NO swinging a golf club due to having that ICD implanted in my chest. I'm thinking I might just have to CHEAT by a week. If it's nice and warm some time next week, I might just have to go out to the range and hit some balls, just to see if I remember HOW.
WE set a record yesterday, with a high of 80 degrees. It was also the record for the last day of the year to reach 80, so that's two records yesterday. Today the forecast high is 40. and that will be around noon, then it gets colder as a snow strom moves in from the northwest. From 80 down to 40 in one day. Low tonight will be around 18, that's way above the low from yesterday morning when it was 58 degrees at 6:00AM when I checked. Abain a 40 * drop in one day. So those of you that are back east, hold on tight, the cold weather is on it's way and should be there in 2or 3 days at most. Enjoy what warmth you have while you can, it's not going to last long.
We hit 75 today....near 70 yesterday...cool at night but warms up nice. Now the rest of the next week will be cooler..60 Sunday i Think but .. 75 degrees near Thanksgiving is NICE
yeah it's thawing out here too..almost 80 tomorrow. Have an 18 hole round scheduled for the afternoon. Woohooo!!
