It was nice to read a post online that told me that Patrick Cantley won a tour event last week with the Titleist 718 AP2 irons in his bag. Those are the newer version of the 714 AP2 irons that I just finished re-working to fit my swing. Makes me feel good to know that a Tour Pro is using pretty much the same irons I just built up for my own use. From everything I've learned about the AP2 irons, the 716 irons are a little more foregiving than the 714 model, and the 718's are a little bit more foregiving still. Each new version was NOT enough better than the last to make it worth it to update from what I've learned, so I'm feeling pretty good about my purchase of the older 714 AP2's at a much lower cost. IF they perform as well as they look and feel. I'll be one happy camper later this week.
